Overview

Crux ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We will never sell your personal data.

What We Collect

  • Account information: Email address and username when you register.
  • Profile information: Display name, bio, and profile photo (optional).
  • Climb logs: Grade, style, send type, notes, and optional photos you attach to your climbs.
  • Gym and route data: Gyms and routes you add to the community database.
  • Location: Only when you explicitly use "Find Nearby Gyms." We do not track your location in the background.
  • Device push token: To send you opt-in notifications (new routes at your gym, partner requests, messages).
  • Usage data: App interactions such as sessions logged and features used, to improve the product.

What We Don't Collect

  • We do not collect payment information (Crux is free).
  • We do not use third-party advertising networks.
  • We do not sell or rent your data to any third party.
  • We do not track your location outside of explicit user-triggered searches.

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide the app's core features: logbook, social feed, gym discovery, partner matching.
  • To send push notifications you have opted into.
  • To improve the app based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
  • To respond to support requests you send us.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure, hosted on servers in the United States and European Union. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Photos are stored on Supabase Storage and served via CDN.

Your Rights

  • Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time.
  • Export: Request a full export of your data by emailing privacy@getcrux.app.
  • Deletion: Delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete Account. Account data is permanently purged within 30 days.
  • Notifications: Opt out of push notifications at any time in iOS Settings or in-app.

Children

Crux is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We will notify users of material changes to this policy via an in-app notification. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent update.
